The Story Behind Our Story

Arrudear means to arrive with respect. It is to take a detour in order to listen more closely. It is to approach each story with time, care, and truth.

With this spirit, in 2006 filmmaker Natara Ney founded Arrudeia Filmes, a production company born from the desire to create meaningful narratives.Over the years, Arrudeia has established itself as a powerful creative space within Brazilian cinema, with a strong presence in series, films, and documentaries that embrace Afro-centered storytelling and urgent themes for Black, Northeastern, and LGBTQIAP+ communities.

We are drawn to stories that inspire—stories of bonds, territories, and belonging. Stories that carry body, voice, and memory.

Among the projects signed by the company are the award-winning short film Um Outro Ensaio (Another Rehearsal), the feature film Espero que Esta te Encontre e que Estejas Bem (I Hope This Finds You Well), and two series produced for Canal Off. We are currently developing new feature films that celebrate key figures within their communities and delve into experiences of affection and resistance.

With a trajectory marked by strategic partnerships and co-productions, Arrudeia also stands out for its refined artistic vision and its commitment to quality throughout every stage of creation.

Our visual identity carries the symbols of the Brazilian Northeast, as a way of honoring Natara’s roots and affirming a distinctive way of portraying the world—with courage, sensitivity, and deep listening.

Because for us, more than producing images, it is about arrudear the stories until we find the right way to tell them.
